"The thing I like best about taxidermy is how real the animal looks when it is completely finished. I want people who walk into my shop with what used to look like a nice trophy, and later come home with a mount to cherish for a lifetime. Growing up, I spent most of my time learning art, whether it was paint-by-number or (what looked like chicken scratch) pencil drawings. These skills have become helpful in what I do now, taxidermy. I am a bit of a tom boy, but what can I say? I enjoy being in the outdoors. I'd rather play with trucks than Barbie's when I was young. I jump up when I get the chance to go hunting or fishing, which is not too often in Arizona. So far, I have killed a mule deer, bull elk, and a javelina in Arizona. I killed my first tom turkey in Missouri in the Spring of '05. Each year I look forward to dove season so I can take my bird dog, Shelby, along. Shelby is a liver and white English springer spaniel. Most of all, I enjoy going camping because it is great to be outside breathing fresh air and sharing old stories with my family around the camp fire." Ally Strickler
